- SMRC Night Postponed
Everyone was getting
ready for the big night out at the SMRC presentation but due
to the amount of snow and ensuing transport problems the date
has been changed to early Februar. We were all looking forward
to a great night out but we will just have to wait till 2011
now. Maybe David Coulthard will manage to get along on the
revised date as he had a big night planed with Red Bull for
this evening and could not make it to original night. I am
sure we will have a great night in February!

- Need a Re-Jig?
We have upgraded
our jig brackets so if your car is in need of re-jigging for
the new season we are happy to sort it out - I am sure all
your lolly pops and front legs will have moved along with
the steering box mounting - so let us put your chassis right
for you ready for the new season. These brackets are made
for our jig and have been made from a brand new chassis whenever
we get a new chassis we always check it on our jig brackets.
If your axle has been bent we also have jig brackets for that
too. I hope we can be of service to you! Steve McCall.

July - Burnett Working with Frixa Brakes...
Early February 2010, Vic Eacott from Frixa, a leading brake
Manufacturer who is also, and part of Hankook Tyre Group which
is well known in Motor racing and approved in many race series
with the MSA, approached me after liaising with Lee Fitzpatrick,
last year's Champion on the issue of poor brake qualities in
racing conditions.
Vic has over 40
year's experience in motor sport and is Frixa's European leading
brake specialist.
We wanted to improve
and develop and eradicate the current issues with the pads
and brake shoes, we all know as team owners and drivers that
the current calliper set up, which cannot be changed, the
pads rattle, there are also performance issues, brake pads
falling out of their brackets which results in loss of driver
confidence, long pedal, loss of brake control especially at
circuits like Anglesey, as well all know.
I had a lengthy
chat with Vic and the factory to develop a unique brake pad
that will not rattle, fall out of the bracket in the calliper
assembly, more so important to replace the loss of confidence
for the driver and more to the point, we have 3 new compounds
to choose from, as each of our drivers have different demands
on their brake performances.
Vic promised me,
that he would develop a winning material and have these brake
issues dealt with too for the Burnett Motorsport team. They
will be personally delivered to use at the Lydden meeting,
on the conditions that, I replaced the brake fluid, replaced
the old disks with new, and serviced the brake components,
so he could complete a fresh shakedown using these new pads.
We placed 3 different
compounds in 3 of Burnett Motorsport cars - John Jon, Lee
and Darren - and they had a meeting with Vic, on the bedding
in procedures that the Factory had stated.
The practice session
went well, each of the drivers had to be patient bedding in
the new brakes and discs which seemed slow, but worth the
effort in the end.
The results from
the racing over the weekend was good and the feedback we got
from each of the drivers were excellent, even John Jon said
''the pads stood up to everything I gave them and they still
felt as good, reliable and performed well even after the 6
race sessions''
As we move to Angelsey
in July, this will be the true test of the drivers and the
new Frixa brake pads.
I can honestly
say, you can't fit these pads in the conventional way that
is why, I am extremely confident that Vic has developed a
brake pad and material choice, that will bring Burnett Motorsport
continued success.
Lastly, Frixa is
developing the brake shoe materials shortly.
We are going 'one
step at a time' and truly pleased so far, with Vic's expertise
and Frixa's brake technologies.

January - Legends Awards Night...
The Legends National Championship awards night took place at
Stratford on Saturday with Lee Fitzpatrick collecting the 2009
National Legends Championship winner's trophy. John Higgins
was presented with his European Championship trophy as well
as the third place pot from the National Championship. Nick
Brace also collected two trophies - 3rd in the European Championship
and National Rookie Champion (in memory of Burnett's very own
Big John Edwards). Steve McCall made the presentation of the
John Edwards trophy along with a speech which always brings
the memory of John flooding back. He is still missed and fondly
remembered. It was also good to see Darren Gaulton and Ross
Marshall as well as the many people who make up the team. We'd
all like to thank Steve for going the extra mile as ever.
