26th & 27th
June - Scottish Classic Sports & Saloons
Rounds Five and Six
Knockhill
26th and 27th June
saw the Classic Speedfair weekend at Knockhill. John Marshall
was hoping to race just on one day so that he could support
one day of the double Legends header at Anglesey but such
is the support for the Scottish Classics that the cars got
three races over the two days!
Big Tom got the
immaculate Mk1 Ford Escort ready for what is one of the year's
big events at Knockhill - then it was over to John to do the
business on circuit. The entry was split into two - races
for cars from classes A&B running together and those from
C&D having their own races separately. John posted pole
position time and then went on to win the race. This also
gave him pole for the second race which he also won. Tom then
had to prepare the car for a third start which was an invitation
race which John again won. Although the last race was non-championship
the other two wins mean that John has a good chance of taking
class honours if he keeps up the momentum for the rest of
the season!
Here's the latest
championship table which shows John 5th overall (despite having
to miss the opening round after being stranded abroad due
to the volcano cloud). He is second in class B
