18th October
- Scottish Championship
Round Eleven
Knockhill
This has got to
be the hardest weekend ever for Burnett Motorsport. Some of
the team went to Pembrey for the National Championship whilst
we also had a presence at Knockhill where Jim, Alan and Paul
looked after David Hunter and Ross Marshall with the help
of Lez.
Ross was trying
to win the Champion of Champions title. He'd already wrapped
up the Scottish Championship with a round to spare (a great
achievement in only his second season) but it was good for
him to see out the season there supporting the final round
of the championship he has been a part of all season.
This weekend my
team above took the two cars and looked after him great I
must thank them loads in the first race Ross was fighting
hard in such a hard championship all the other drivers were
working hard too though looking for at 2nd 3rd and 4th in
the final table - it was such a hard time all weekend. Ross
took 5th David 10th in the opening race with Alisdair Gauld
working so hard to seal his 2nd place - I am so sure Ross
was helping him out in the 2nd race. David has got to have
had his best drive ever taking 3rd place trying hard to seal
his 2nd place in rookie championship - what a drive it was
and I am so sure his overalls had to go get dry cleaned after
the 2nd race. Alisdair sealed his 2nd place in the Scottish
Champioinship - boy did he earn that all year. I feel that
he could not have driven that car any harder and to seal it
on this weekend when he felt the car was not working right
was superb. When the rear axle broke in final he had already
done his job with his well earned 2nd place - there is so
much more to come from the boy! As for Ross he worked so hard
to win the final when on lap 2 there was carnage everywhere.
I think with all the drivers fighting for latter places but
after Ross had got near the front in the first start he found
himself back at the rear of the grid for the re-start and
the shortened distance meant he did not have enough time to
work to the front. He did get through to 3rd place though!
I thank them all
and am glad to have helped out David, Ross and Alisdair when
I could and of course Nick - helping him to win the Scottish
Rookie title.
